My friends love this place, and so I am almost compelled to write a good review. But dear readers, I will not cave so easily, I will stay true to my judgement. I will bear the wrath and indignation of my friends.
This is a greasy Sichuan place, a style I regularly enjoy. We got the dry pot, the local specialty, and some explosive chilli tofu. I think the dry pot suffers from the same thing hot pot does, that it just makes a bunch of ingredients taste exactly the same. I just think there's way better executed versions of this.
Go to Spices 3 in Oakland, it's a real step above! I hope it's the same family, that would imply the existence of a Spices 2 that we are yet to discover.
